It is time to recite
from the sage's throne
by Urthr's well;
I saw and remained silent,
I saw and contemplated,
I listened to the speech of men;
Of runes they spoke and of their reading,
little was withheld from their lips at Har's hall,
in Har's hall, thus I heard it said.

and out of shriveled lips,
words of wisdom fall,
from him who hangs among the hides
to to rock with the cheeses
and swing with the skins.

122
Radomc þer, Loddfafnir!

you will never
receive a reward for good deeds done
but a righteous man
will keep you
in favor and praise.

that must move to the side
to be open for all;

   ax við fiolkyngi,
   ha/ll viþ hýrogi,
   heiptom scal mána qveþia,
   beiti viþ bitsóttom
   enn viþ ba/lvi rvnar,
   fold scal viþ floði taca.

I advise you, Loddfafnir,
to take my advise;
you would benefit, if you followed it,
good will come to you, if you accept it:
when you drink ale,
call upon the might of the earth,
the earth prevails over drink,
Call upon fire against sickness,
oak against constipation,
an acorn against sorcery,
the hall tree against household strife,
One must invoke the moon against rages
herb o'er cattle plagues
and runes against banes,
the earth drinks in the floods.
