Sa, which means "protection", is said to be a herdsman's whip or rolled up tent. This amulet though almost completely unknown today was prized as a protective talisman in ancient Egypt. The sa would often appear on jewelry and murals both by itself and in conjunction with other symbols. This symbol was said to bestow the wearer with protection from physical harm.
