The Nefar lacks definitive translation but is used to represent a host of beneficial concepts. It is supposed to be the esophagus and heart, or perhaps a stringed instrument as proposed by the famous Egyptologist Ernest Budge (1837 - 1934).
Whatever the case may be the nefer represents all that is good and beautiful. Thus has been one of the most popular amulets in Egypt throughout the ages, and as such there exists a few variations. Amulets bearing this symbol were believed to bring prosperity, happiness, and good fortune in all endeavors.
